Sarah & Jon – Mt Washington Mill Dye House Baltimore Wedding Photography

I’ve been looking forward to Sarah and Jon’s wedding for a while! Not only because their venue (Mt. Washington Mill Dye House) is awesome and it was my first time there, but also because of Sarah’s story and the deep love I know she and Jon share. We had fun playing around with red and green smoke bombs across the street, hollering at their adorable pug, and of course setting up some epic night shots.

Sarah & Dave – Jefferson Memorial DC Cherry Blossom Engagement

It’s cherry blossom season again, guys! Although I don’t know what blooms are actually left out there after our “snow.” But Sarah and Dave got their session in just before everything froze, and we scrounged up a couple of early blossoms and combined it with sunrise at the Jefferson for a truly beautiful morning. These two told me repeatedly how awkward they are to photograph, but I think I proved them wrong! :)

Lily & Craig – Baltimore Engagement Photography

Lily and Craig picked the coldest and windiest day of the year for their engagement shoot. But it’s when conditions are terrible but smiles abound anyway that I know they are a good match! I loved their positive attitudes and welcoming spirits. I really felt like I’ve known them for a long time. Plus Criag and Lily are hilarious… for example, Lily invented a hashtag for our time together – #crailmily. So catchy, right? It will probably be trending soon. ;-) 2017-02-19_0011

Lizett & Matthew – Kenwood Country Club Bethesda Wedding Photography

Lizett has one of the biggest happiest smiles I’ve ever seen, and Matt can’t help but smile back when he looks at her. (Just at her though, not so much at me. Haha.) They are really cute together, and although it was freeeeezing the day of their wedding, we braved some neat photos with the old car and fun night shots until I couldn’t feel my fingers any longer. Worth it!

Lisa & Dan – Sandals Negril Jamaica Destination Wedding Photography

I’ve been off the blogging scene for a little while now, because, life. And I have a few other incredible weddings I will definitely get around to posting because they are too good not to share. But in the meantime, take this warm and sunny Jamaica wedding to brighten up your winter day!

Lisa and Dan invited me out to be their destination wedding photographer after seeing the work I did at Lisa’s brother’s wedding in St. Lucia a few years ago. (Love this family – they totally have the right idea with the destination weddings.) It was so much fun to enjoy a few days in the sun, see everyone again, and make some new friends. The sand was clean, the water was clear, and the weather was awesome. (I’ll spare you my diatribe about the Jamaican mosquitoes.) Thanks for having me out, guys!

Laura & Jeff – Christmas Tree Farm Maternity Portraits

I’ve known Laura since freshman year of college in Texas (and if I tell you how many years that is I’ll feel old) and I’m honored to call her a good friend! Incidentally, she also happens to be a very talented wedding planner if you might need one. :) Anyway, I know just how wanted and loved this baby is, and I have zero doubts about how incredible Jeff and Laura will be at this parenting business. Congratulations guys!

Anna Marie & John – Grey Rock Mansion Baltimore Wedding Photography

Anna Marie has to be one of the most beautiful people I know, inside and out. She radiates enthusiasm and joy and always makes you feel special, even in simple conversation. I’ve been looking forward to this wedding for years, honestly. I photographed Anna Marie’s sister Kate’s wedding many moons ago, and the whole family has been giving me referrals ever since! It was so fun to see 4 or 5 of my past couples in attendance. And since I’ve seen Anna Marie at so many weddings over the years, I was really intrigued to see what hers would be like, and to get to know John a little better too! He is her perfect complement – steady and strong, and very clearly willing to move mountains for her. From happy tears to donuts, the wedding day did not disappoint and the excitement everyone shared was truly contagious. Together I think these two are unbreakable, and I’m so happy to see them finally hitched!

Marisa & Adam – Baltimore Maryland Engagement Photography

Marisa & Adam were incredibly warm and welcoming, despite our chilly 7:30 am meet time. We did some fun pictures in the lobby of their apartment building, then headed out to the farmer’s market, which was already bustling at 8:30am (who are these people who get up so early?! haha), then finished up in Federal Hill by the AVAM. I loved getting to see these guys interact in their home environment, and truly am so excited for their wedding next year! 2016-11-20_0015

Mini Sessions – Washington DC Family Portrait Photography

My first-ever set of mini sessions was a success! If you’re wondering what the heck I’m talking about with this term, mini sessions are basically abbreviated portrait sessions for a cheaper price. This year, I’m offering them for $150 and you’ll receive 5 images of my choosing, with the option to view and purchase the rest. I saw lots of familiar faces (previous clients, yay!) and met some new ones, and now due to popular demand, I’m offering a second date for sessions – this Saturday, the 19th!  I have three slots left to fill – shoot me an email for more information or to sign up: emily@emilychastain.com. Turn-around time is 7-10 days so it is not too late for holiday cards. :)
