Natalie & Mike – Caves Valley Golf Club Engagement Photography

Having photographed a wedding at a golf course the night before Natalie and Mike’s shoot, this was my second time on a golf cart in two days! I was getting to be quite a pro at hopping on the back without bumping my head. Natalie and Mike made this session really easy for me – they were so great to work with and even laughed at all my not-so-funny jokes. Mike’s dad drove us around to all the pretty spots and only looked at me like I was slightly crazy for laying down on the green to get the best angles. The fall colors were BEAUTIFUL here – it was such a treat to be out enjoying the nice weather and chatting with some very nice people!

Brittany & Kevin – Chesapeake Bay Beach Club Eastern Shore Maryland Wedding

Brittany and Kevin’s wedding day kept me moving from start to finish: it was fast-paced, it was exciting, and it was tons of fun. I loved glancing over at Brittany’s parents and family at various points during the day and seeing everyone unabashedly bawling their eyes out. (Tears always make for great photos!) There’s a lot of love in both of these families, and I’m really so happy for this new couple!

Brittany & Mark – Philip Carter Winery of Virginia Engagement Photography

It was definitely a long drive for me to get there, but when I showed up and Brittany and Mark were so relaxed and happy and the sun was golden and perfect I couldn’t help but be excited and reenergized! They laughed, they drank wine, we all ate some cheese and crackers, and just walked around enjoying the weather and chasing the perfect light. Then I went home and carved a pumpkin so it really was a great fall day.

Carolyn & Hunter – Old Town Alexandria Engagement Photography

Carolyn and Hunter are the kind of people I feel like I’ve known for a long time. They are easy to talk to and fun to be around, and it was such an enjoyable afternoon strolling around Old Town Alexandria and exploring. There were so many photographers commandeering all the alleyways, but I’m happy to report we found a few even better ones off the beaten path!

Morgan & Rob – Whittemore House DC Wedding Photography

The Whittemore House is one of those buildings I walk by in Dupont all the time but had no real clue what it was all about until this wedding. During the week it’s home to a political social club and on the weekends it turns into a pretty neat wedding venue! I really get some awesome clients, and Morgan and Rob are no exception. They were so fun to be with the whole day. My favorite moment was during the reception when I stepped out to do some ring shots, and they came and sat down in the same room and ate cake. It doesn’t sound like much, but let me tell you how few brides and grooms I see actually sitting down and enjoying a piece of cake: zero. They chatted with each other, they chatted with me, and they took a moment to breathe and step back and spend five minutes together. And I thought it was really cool.

Dani – Iceland Maternity Photos

I got back from a trip to Iceland a couple weeks ago with Dani, and talk about incredible! Iceland never ceases to amaze me and I’m sure I’ll be gushing about it soon enough when I blog all my photos and write about our road trip around the island, but first I wanted to post these maternity photos I took of Dani while over there. We may technically be “competitors,” but this girl is one of my best friends and I honestly don’t know what I’d do without her to laugh with, cry with, support and challenge me. I think it’s so cool that this unborn babe got to be in such a magical place with us and I am (not gonna lie) kinda excited about being “Auntie Em” to this kid that I love already.

Devin & Matt – Old Ellicott City Engagement Photography

I had to laugh because at our initial meeting Devin and Matt said that they didn’t want to do engagement photos in Old Ellicott City because that’s “where everyone else does them.” But after going back and forth on a few other ideas, they finally sent me an email that said, “We changed our minds, can we do Old Ellicott City after all?”  They live within walking distance and love it there, so why not do photos in a place that’s familiar yet special? I think it was perfect. We explored a few new areas and I found some spots I hadn’t used before, so I like to think we made it unique and memorable, even if that’s where “everyone” does them. :) One more thing to note for the football people out there: Devin and Matt are living proof that Ravens and Steelers fans CAN get along!

Jasmin & Mike – Patterson Park Engagement

Jasmin is one of those people you can talk to for the first time and feel like you’ve known forever. We had the best time chatting and getting to know each other at the initial meeting, and then throwing Mike into the mix at the engagement session just made it even more fun. He clearly adores her, and it isn’t hard to see why! Can’t wait to witness more of these two in action at their wedding a few short weeks. :)

Sarah & Matt – Grand Historic Venue Wedding Photography

I really loved hanging out with Sarah and Matt on their wedding day and honestly can’t say enough good things about these guys! Sarah looked beyond gorgeous, and her smile was so genuine all day long. And Matt’s personality is the perfect complement to Sarah’s. It was two whole years ago that I photographed Sarah’s brother’s wedding, but it seemed like just yesterday when I got to see the family again! They are the sweetest.

Ashlyn & Aaron – Running Hare Vineyard Maryland Wedding Photography

Ashlyn and Aaron’s love is so out of this world, I was seeing stars! No really, this astronomy-themed wedding was from another planet. Okay, okay, I’m done with the puns. But I loved the unique theme and how it illustrated their love perfectly. Meteorites are the oldest material on earth, so Ashlyn carried two small ones tucked into her dress as her “something old”, and Aaron’s ring was fashioned from meteorites as well. What better way to begin a marriage than with something that has endured for years and years and years? I really enjoyed watching these two beautiful people come together and the incredible joy and happiness that was their wedding day.
